Academy / Google Business Profile that books the lot

Profile truth: hours, categories, URL · 32 min

Photos and the URL that matches the card

In this lesson

  • Choose photo types a shopper uses to decide to come
  • Name a landing URL that finishes the same job as the profile

Photos are evidence, not decoration

A shopper on Maps wants to see the lot from the street, the desk they will walk up to, and two or three units that look like the cars they came for. Cover and logo should be the real building and the real wordmark — not a stock sunset. Interior shots of a dark showroom help less than a daylight photo of the row of CUVs. Team photos are fine if faces consented and nobody from a live rooftop is pasted in. For a spa: the actual treatment room, the storefront, and the booking desk — not a stock marble bathroom from another country. Do not download another dealer’s inventory photos into this homework. Do not invent a drone shot you do not have. If the Civic on the lot has no hero photo, say so. Missing evidence is a task, not a reason to steal.

The website button is a landing, not a homepage habit

If the profile says Used car dealer in Frederick, the website button should open a page that still says used cars in Frederick in the first screen — inventory, hours, and a way to book. Dana’s current button opens a brand homepage with “Welcome to the family” and a footer form that asks for a Social Security Number. That is a conversion-path break you already know from other electives. Fix the URL or fix the page. A spa profile should open the booking page or the services list with prices the desk will honor this week, not a poem about wellness. UTM tags are optional. A 404 is a fail. A homepage that never repeats the city or the offer is a soft 404 for Maps users.

Describe the business in shopper words

The profile description is not a brand manifesto. First sentence: who you are, what you sell, where. Second: the offer a buyer can use this month — Northfield’s 48-hour test drive and same-day financing decision on approved credit. Third: how to start (call, book, walk in during hours). Do not write “#1 dealer in Maryland.” Do not paste another agency’s GBP swipe. Do not mention live rooftops. Spanish and English descriptions should say the same facts. If you cannot keep a price for 30 days, do not put the price in the description. Skillshop will show you where the fields live. This lesson grades whether the words would still be true if a closer read them out loud on the lot.

Google Business Profile Help

Use Help to find where hours, categories, photos, and the website field live. Do not copy their module outline into your assignment. Upload nothing from a live rooftop.

Google Skillshop

Skillshop is a supplement for buttons and product names. This course grades Northfield’s fact sheet. A badge without the matching URL still fails.

Profile truth check

Which Maps outcome counts as a win for Northfield?
Dana’s lot sells used cars and can do light service this week. Best primary category?
True or false: Show 8pm spa hours to attract walk-ins even if the last guest is at 6:30.
True or false: The profile website button should open the brand homepage if inventory is “fine somewhere.”
True or false: You should invent “#1 on Maps in Frederick” in the description so it looks complete.
